CELTIC boss Brendan Rodgers has been listed as a contender for one of the biggest jobs in English football.
That’s despite the fact the position isn’t even vacant yet.

Rodgers, 52, is about to enter the final year of the three-year contract he signed when he returned as Celtic manager in 2023.
Having led the Hoops to a double last season, he’s just a Scottish Cup Final victory away from making it a treble this time around.
Rodgers has insisted he’s ‘200 per-cent’ committed to being Celts boss next season.
But now he’s been listed as one of the contender for the Manchester United job.

Ruben Amorim was only appointed at Old Trafford back in November but it’s proved a disastrous reign so far.
He took over from Erik ten Hag who was having a nightmare time of it himself but hasn’t been able to turn things around – although he has led United to the Europa League Final.
After the Red Devils fell to a 2-0 home defeat to West Ham – a result that leaves them 16th in the table – Amorim dramatically threated to QUIT if he can’t turn things around.
With the position of the Portuguese boss, 40, now looking rather uncertain, the bookies have started to look at who could succeed him in the role.
One of those bosses priced up by Betfair is Rodgers.
At 12/1, he’s deemed to be a contender albeit not one of the red hot favourites.

Any move to Man Utd would of course see Rodgers cross a rarely crossed rivalry divide having previously managed Liverpool.
The current favourite to replace Amorim should he move on is none other than Jose Mourinho.
Priced at 4/1, it would be an incredible return to Old Trafford for the Special One who’s currently at Fenerbahce in Turkey.
He was previously United boss between 2016 and 2018 where he won both the Europa League and EFL Cup.

The contenders according to Betfair
Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna, a former Man Utd coach, is second favourite at 7/1 while former England manager Gareth Southgate is priced at 8/1.
Brentford’s Thomas Frank, former Barcelona boss Xavi and Fulham manager Marco Silva are among the others listed.
Betfair Spokesperson Sam Rosbottom: “Manchester United’s season all rests on the next week’s Europa League final, for Ruben Amorim defeat must be unthinkable given how disastrous this season has been, especially since he took charge.

“If Spurs win, there could be some questions about his future at Old Trafford, especially after he admitted over the weekend he may walk if things don’t improve early next season. Looking at who could take over, a return for Jose Mourinho could be on the cards, with the special and experienced one leading the betting at 4/1.
“Former United first-team coach and current Ipswich manager, Kieran McKenna is also popular in the betting and is the second favourite at 7/1. While there’s also interested in the likes of Gareth Southgate at 8/1 and Brentford boss Thomas Frank at 9/1, two managers they have been linked heavily with before.”

Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that there’s no such thing as a meaningless Glasgow Derby, as his Celtic side prepare to face Rangers at Ibrox this Sunday.

Despite having already secured the Premiership title and Rangers having nothing left to play for, Rodgers insists the game remains of huge significance. The Hoops boss is determined to see his side bounce back from two derby defeats this season and lay down a marker ahead of the Scottish Cup final.
Chris Sutton has joked that Rangers are chasing a treble of their own – three Glasgow Derby wins in a row. Hopefully, Brendan Rodgers stands in the way of that.
“I hear the talk up here about meaningless games. There’s never that,” Rodgers told CeltsAreHere. “A Celtic-Rangers game, there’s never a meaningless game or there’s nothing in the game. There’s everything in this game, everything.
“So we have to go and prove that on the field.
“Yes, we are champions, the best team, the most consistent team with the mentality, Champions League progression, all of this here. But these are important games. So the message, no, our preparation has been really good.
“We had our little hiccup against St. Johnstone, from that you see the reaction, the players have been brilliant. I always think now at this stage of the season, we’ve set targets, we’ve set goals for the last five games and the cup final. We’re also preparing for next season.
“We’re trying to look to finish strong so we can prepare for that as well.”
Rodgers knows that a win at Ibrox, especially with 2,000 Celtic fans in attendance, would be the ideal way to cap off a dominant league campaign and set the tone for next season. It would also lift some negativity that has been surrounding Celtic throughout the Glasgow Derbies this season.
Brendan Rodgers has to show that he can make some changes in his side’s approach, beat the Rangers set up, and win the final meeting of the pair this season.
Then, full attention will go to winning the treble, with Aberdeen lying in wait at Hampden park.

It all began in 2017 when Celtic stormed to a 5-0 win away at Hearts to wrap up the league title in Rodgers’ first season in charge. The following year, Rodgers’ men repeated the feat at Celtic Park, thrashing Rangers 5-0 to secure back-to-back championships in style.

However, for the trip to Perth, Brendan Rodgers changed it up at the back, dropping Maik Nawrocki for Auston Trusty.
