CELTIC and Rangers meet for the final time this season on Sunday, with the Hoops travelling to Ibrox as newly-crowned champions.

But they won’t be expecting a warm welcome from their rivals, with midfielder Luke McCowan already admitting he doubts Gers will give Celts a guard of honour.

And Kris Boyd has agreed that Rangers won’t be in a charitable mood towards Celtic.

The Gers hero told Sky Sports that too much water has passed under the bridge between the Glasgow rivals, and that hostilities are getting worse.

Boyd said: “There won’t be any guard of honour.

“Scotland‘s a pretty unique place, and for both teams the respect went out the window a few years ago.

“Celtic can’t even refer to it as the Old Firm.

“In terms of the respect that used to be in the boardrooms, I don’t think it’s there anymore.

“I can’t imagine Rangers players clapping Celtic players onto the pitch on Sunday.

“There should still be respect there from both clubs, but there are so many problems in the past now that there’s no chance of a guard of honour on Sunday.”

Gers are looking for a hat-trick of wins over the Hoops, having stunned the champions at Parkhead in the last derby with the returning away fans revelling in their victory.

Boyd continued: “I’m looking forward to the game, for Scottish football it’s a great spectacle.

“There will be some Celtic fans back in the ground, we saw what happened last time at Celtic Park with the [away] fans, it was great to see.

“I don’t think it’ll ever get back to what it was, but Celtic will want to come to Ibrox and show why they’re champions and put on a performance.

“For Rangers and Barry Ferguson, he’s already spoken about his disappointment at the weekend and there are a lot of players fighting for their futures.

“There will be changes at Ibrox this summer and if they want to be part of something going forward then they will need to perform between now and the end of the season.

“A lot of players already know that they are surplus to requirements but it’s still an Old Firm game and you’ll want to put on a performance.”
