The Hoops make the short trip to Govan as four-time Premiership champions having wrapped the league title up last weekend at Tannadice against Dundee United.
There isn’t much riding on this game other than personal pride and city bragging rights, but Brendan Rodgers will also be eager to arrest Celtic’s poor recent form versus Rangers.
The Bhoys have lost the last two derby meetings and haven’t won against Rangers in 90 minutes since a 3-0 win at Parkhead in September.
If Celtic were to lose, it would be the first time since 1996/97 that they club have lost three derby games in one season – that can’t be allowed to happen.
What Celtic are also keen to avoid is the use of fireworks or pyrotechnics in the away end at Ibrox, with around 2,000 Bhoys expected to be in attendance.
Celtic issue pyro warning to fans before Glasgow derby
Celtic have released a supporter information statement before Sunday’s 12pm kick-off and gave fans a stern warning.
The club have also provided some useful advice to Celtic fans arriving at Ibrox and what to expect on approach to the stadium.
Celtic’s official website has a post reading: “The possession and use of fireworks, smoke bombs, firecrackers and all pyrotechnics are absolutely prohibited, due to the serious risk to spectator safety.
“The club and its supporters are rightly proud of our reputation and we encourage all supporters to help foster this reputation at our fixtures.
“Fans without tickets are asked not to attend the stadium. There will be a strict no ticket no entry policy enforced by the home club.
“We recommend that fans with valid tickets arrive early and comply with all stewarding requests.
“As always, safety for the match rests with Rangers FC and Police Scotland who have the final say on all matters.
“Drum and flags on sticks up to 1 metre are fine however telepoles are not permitted. Flags and banners are welcome, subject to inspection.”

Here are seven key pointers Celtic have issued to away fans attending Ibrox on Sunday:
“Fans are asked to gather at the Away Coach Park on Broomloan Road from 9.30am
We recommend that fans with valid tickets arrive early and comply with all stewarding requests
Gates will open at 10.30am or sooner if possible
Ticket checks will take place on approach to the stadium
Fans will be filtered on to the stadium footprint from Broomloan Rd and towards the turnstiles
Fans should enter through the appropriate turnstile only
