Rangers fans appear to be considering surrendering Tina Turner’s ‘The Best’ after Celtic fans loudly claimed the anthem at Ibrox on Sunday. As Callum McGregor led the Scottish Champions out of the tunnel and onto the pitch, the Rangers DJ played the 1989 hit. As most Rangers fans continued their pre-match routine, they were greeted by an enthusiastic rendition from the 2200 Celtic supporters in the Broomloan and GW corners.
The Celtic fans singing along in party mode turned the Rangers support down and has triggered yet another existential crisis for ‘the people’.

The song has been played at Ibrox since the 1990s but given Celtic’s period of dominance, becoming the most successful club in the country, Rangers fans are feeling sheepish about the anthem continuing to be played. A thread on a prominent website for Rangers fans revealed that they are keen for the song to be ditched in the wake of the Celtic fans’ singalong as well as realising they’re second best.

Celtic, meanwhile, will look to continue their dominance with a Scottish Cup win over Aberdeen when the sides meet at the end of May. The match will be a replay of the 2017 Final that saw Rodgers lift his first Treble as an injury time effort from Tom Rogic clinched the Invincible clean sweep. Since then, Celtic have won five Trebles and are 90 minutes away from another one.
