Training has been a vital part of Eddie Howe’s success at Newcastle United.
He has made so many players better since his arrival at St James’ Park, and that is down to his work on the training pitch.

Eddie Howe has admitting that coaching during the week is his favourite part of being a manager, and he ensures that his Newcastle United players get the most out of every day of training.
When he was first appointed as Steve Bruce’s replacement, Howe shocked Newcastle fans by turning up extremely early.
That remains the case as he approaches his three-year anniversary as Newcastle United manager.
Howe gets in early to go to the gym and prepare the day’s session, ensuring that everything is prepared in advance of the players arriving.

But which player arrives first? That is what Eddie Howe has been asked on the Adopted Geordies podcast.
“9:30am they have to be here,” he said.
“Some of them are usually in a lot earlier. Kieran Trippier will probably be the first player in. He’s probably about 8:30am.
“Then they will come in at different times. Our work with them really starts at about 10:00am – we have a meeting, like a visual presentation on one of the three subjects that I’ve said [training, reviewing a game or previewing a game].
“Then we go training at 11:00am.”
Kieran Trippier leads by example at Newcastle United
The fact that Kieran Trippier is always the first player to arrive for training pretty much sums up his Newcastle United career.
He has led by example ever since he joined the club from Atletico Madrid for £12million in January 2022. He was the Magpies’ first signing after the takeover, and probably remains the most pivotal.

Trippier set the tone for what was ahead, and immediately raised standards at the club – both on and off the pitch.
He continues to do that, despite speculation over his future. Trippier wanted to leave Newcastle in the summer, but was denied a move away. Eddie Howe did not want to lose Trippier, which is not a major surprise.
Since a move away from St James’ Park collapsed, Trippier has forced his way back into the Newcastle United starting XI. He has started the Magpies’ previous two Premier League games, winning back the right-back position from Tino Livramento.
It is great to have competition for places, and Howe will be delighted to still have a committed Trippier in his squad. And that commitment is summed up by him continuing to be the first player through the door for training.
He might not be the captain, but Kieran Trippier leads by example at Newcastle United.
