Everton are going to see some considerable changes made to their squad over the summer.
Decisions still need to be made on the future of some of Everton’s players who are set to run out of contract.
David Moyes has been holding contract meetings at Finch Farm over the last week to narrow down which players could stay.
However, there is a lot of work needing to be done at Everton.
In what will be their first summer on Merseyside, the Friedkins are expected to fund a big summer window for the Blues.
That is going to be needed as the Toffees need to add a lot more quality to their side.
Beto has been linked with a move to Leeds United ahead of the summer and Moyes shed some light on the striker’s situation in his most recent press conference.
What David Moyes said about Beto’s Everton future
Following the injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin in January, Beto has been handed a much more important role on Merseyside.
However, Beto is aware Everton could sell him this summer with newly-promoted Leeds showing their interest in the striker.
Speaking from Finch Farm on Friday, Moyes has shared his very honest thoughts on the 26-year-old after a larger role in the side.
“He has become a much more important player as the season has gone on,” he said.
“When we put him in the team initially it was mainly down to injuries. So, sometimes in football you need a bit of luck, you need an opening. He was so good, he scored against Tottenham, scored in the other games, he has been a real handful.
“He is looking a lot more assured and there are things we know he can do better. He is really trying to make a mark and let’s be honest, he probably has [done that].”
Under Sean Dyche, Beto wanted to leave Everton in January with a real lack of opportunities coming from the starting XI.
However, he has been handed some hope of being Everton’s starting striker with improved form in a blue shirt.
Everton still want to sign summer striker
Although these comments do read as a warning to Leeds after their interest was shared earlier in the week, the door for an exit could still open.
Everton are in talks with Dominic Calvert-Lewin over a new contract which could put a spanner in the works for Beto.
And then there are any other signings the Toffees may make this summer.
It is believed Everton are prioritising a new striker signing to really add some quality to Moyes’ options at Bramley-Moore Dock.
