Leeds United receive special messages from Prime Ministers after Premier League promotion

Keir Starmer sends special message to Leeds United after Premier League promotion

Daniel Farke will be managing Leeds United in the Premier League next season.

The Whites ran a close race with Burnley throughout the season, but came out on top as Championship champions on goal difference.

The West Yorkshire outfit will already have their attention on life in the top flight once more, hoping to build on their progress and establish themselves in the Premier League.

Keir Starmer congratulates Leeds on promotion

Leeds did look like they were going to fall victim to a drop in form towards the end of the campaign, but Farke guided his men back to their best.

The race to be champions went right up until the end of the campaign, with Manor Solomon’s 91st-minute winner against Plymouth securing the title.

There were some suggestions that Farke wasn’t going to be given the opportunity to guide his side forward, with anxieties over his previous Premier League record.

However, the 49ers are prepared to stand by the German and back him in the summer transfer window to strengthen his side.

The owners are looking at a long-term plan with the Whites, which would see them settle in the Premier League.

The reach of the club has been highlighted after Keir Starmer was left discussing Leeds with Norway’s Prime Minister, and Leeds supporter, Jonas Gahr Store, on an official visit.

As shared in a post by 10 Downing Street via X (9 May), Starmer said: “I have to say again, congratulations to Leeds on getting promoted.”

Leeds ready to push forward on and off the pitch

Since the 49ers took full control of Leeds, they have upped the investment and shown a real commitment to pushing Leeds as far as they can.

With PSR restrictions coming into play in the top flight, the investors know that they will have to be prepared to increase the income coming into the side.

However, they seemed to be well prepared, having already announced plans to expand Elland Road, increasing the capacity of the stadium.

The interaction between Starmer and Gahr Store shows just how far the reach of the West Yorkshire side is, so Leeds should have no problem filling their additional capacity in the years to come.

The main task for Farke is to keep his side up next season, with the hope that any progress can then be built upon going forward.

It’s an exciting time to be a Leeds fan and the 49ers will be hoping that this is just the start.
