£150,000-a-Week Star Would ‘Love’ to Join Leeds This Summer

Leeds United are considering a summer move for Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips, journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed.

The Whites are believed to be contemplating whether to bring the England international back to Elland Road this offseason, ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Phillips would reportedly ‘love’ a return to West Yorkshire this summer and has been on Leeds’ shortlist for months as a potential midfield reinforcement.

The 29-year-old Englishman is spending the season at Ipswich Town, where he has begun to recover his form under Kieran McKenna in recent months.

According to Bailey, Leeds have been making regular checks on Phillips during his time at Portman Road and are contemplating his return this summer.

Man City are believed to be open to the 29-year-old’s sale after he failed to impress Pep Guardiola following his £42m move from Leeds in 2022.

Phillips, who earns £150,000 per week, is under contract with Man City until June 2028 but is unlikely to see out his deal, having made just 31 appearances since joining.

The ‘phenomenal’ Englishman has been a useful squad player for McKenna at Ipswich this season, making 22 appearances across all competitions and scoring once in the FA Cup.

He would bring considerable Premier League experience to Elland Road, with 92 top-flight appearances to his name.

Leeds are expected to bring reinforcements in midfield following their Championship triumph, with Borussia Monchengladbach star Julian Weigl emerging as another option.

The Germany international knows Farke well from their time together at Gladbach in the 2022/23 season and would reportedly be open to a Premier League move this summer.
