Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes has declared he is ‘very happy’ at St James’ Park and the Brazil international has his sights set on winning more trophies, as he clears air….goodbye to rumours.
Bruno Guimaraes is ‘very excited’ about what is to come at Newcastle United as the Magpies target more silverware.
Bruno became the first captain in seven decades to lead Newcastle to a major domestic trophy win following the black-and-whites’ Carabao Cup triumph against Liverpool at Wembley just a couple of months ago. It had always been Bruno’s dream to write his name in the club’s history, but the Brazil international is not finished yet.
Bruno ‘hopes to be a part’ of the set-up at St James’ Park next season and the 27-year-old even talked up the prospect of the club one day winning the Premier League.
“I’m very happy,” he told Sky Sports. “When we won the cup, it was nice. Seventy years was a long time. I think everyone enjoyed it a lot. The parade was crazy but, for us, it’s not enough. For me, it’s not enough. I want more.
“The most difficult thing is always the first step and we did the first step. Now we want more. We want to qualify for the Champions League. We want to win more things next season. The project is showing what we are trying to do. It’s making history for this club so I’m very excited for the future of this club.”
A report in Brazil claimed Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ittihad were interested in signing Bruno, but it is worth noting that none of the PIF-owned clubs have previously pursued Newcastle’s prized assets. In fact, Allan Saint-Maximin’s heavily-scrutinised move to Al-Ahli remains the only deal between Newcastle and a Saudi side since the takeover and Pro League clubs have instead done more business with Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.
