How Much Money Every Europa League Team Has Made in 2024/25 Competition

It’s official: Tottenham Hotspur have ended their 17-year trophy drought by beating Manchester United 1-0 in the 2024/25 Europa League final. The pair overcame Bodo/Glimt and Athletic Bilbao respectively in the semi-final, but it was Ange Postecoglou‘s men who won the battle for supremacy in the Basque Country.

For the Red Devils, it would mark the first piece of silverware in Ruben Amorim‘s reign at Old Trafford. For Spurs, it was their first major trophy in just shy of two decades.

But whether they won the competition or not, though, both sides have made plenty of cash from their runs to the final on May 21. Exactly how much money have they made, though? It’s been a fruitful campaign for the pair and now, the numbers have been confirmed, and we know just how much they’ve taken home for their exploits in Europe.

Football Meets Data have crunched the numbers and figured out exactly how much money each team has generated from Europe’s second-tier competition this season. With the Europa League the first of the three competitions to be wrapped up, here’s how much all 36 teams in the tournament have made this year.

36th – 27th

Including Besiktas and OGC Nice

Despite accumulating five points during the league phase of the tournament and finishing above four other teams, FC RFS have made the least amount of money in this year’s competition. The Latvian side have raked in just over £5 million with Elfsborg and Ludogorets being the only other clubs not to make over £7 million.

OGC Nice, Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Union Saint-Gilloise are just ahead, with £7.4m, £7.9m and £8.1m made respectively. The last three teams in this section and the last three not to make at least £10m are Besiktas (£9.1m), FC Twente (£9.2m) and Anderlecht (£9.6m).

26th – 17th

Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce feature

After scraping through the league table phase of the tournament, Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce were eliminated quite early, but they still managed to make £13.6m before they were sent packing. Narrowly below them is FC Midtjylland, who earned £13.4m, while Viktoria Plzen, Braga and PAOK come next, with £12.5m, £11.8m and £11.6m respectively.

Next, it’s Dynamo Kyiv and Malmo FF, with the former making £11.02m, while the latter earned £10.9m. Not much separates Steaua Bucharest (£10.7m), Hoffenheim (£10.6m), Ferencvarosi (£10.5m) and Qarabag (£10.4m), who all round out this section.

16th – 7th

Lyon, Rangers, Roma and Ajax miss out on top 6

After a dramatic showdown with Manchester United in the quarter-final, Lyon were eliminated from the Europa League, but they made a pretty penny (£19.3m) from their run in the competition. Just below them are Rangers, Roma and Ajax, who all made £17.7m, £17.6m and £17.4m respectively from their time in the tournament.

There are many highly decorated clubs in world football and the 23 sides to have amassed the most trophies have been listed.

Olympiacos (£16.6m), Real Sociedad (£16.1m) and Galatasaray (£15.7m) are the last teams to make above £15m, but they were all eliminated from the competition before the quarter-finals. The last three teams in this section are AZ Alkmaar, Slavia Prague and Porto, who all earned £14.7m, £14.3m and £14.1m respectively, before they were knocked out of the tournament.

6th – 1st

Manchester United and Tottenham the top earners

Manchester United (£30.7m) and Tottenham (£38.2m) have made more money than any other side in the Europa League as a result of their reaching the final. The Premier League giants saw off Athletic Bilbao and Bodo/Gimt to make it to the final and the north Londoners pocketed £8.43m for their exploits at the San Mames Stadium.

Of that, £5.06m comes from winning the trophy, while Postecoglou and his entourage are now £3.37m richer as they’ve qualified for the UEFA Super Cup, where they will play one of Paris Saint-Germain or Inter Milan depending on who wins the Champions League showpiece at the end of the month.

FK Bodo/Glimt made it to the semi-final of the tournament and have made the third most money, taking home £22.4m so far. Lazio were eliminated in the quarter-final, but they made plenty of money (£20.7m) before they were knocked out. Athletic Club (£20.5m) made it one stage further, but are fifth.

Tied with the La Liga club, though, is Eintracht Frankfurt who were knocked out of the Europa League by Spurs in the quarter-final.
