Anthony Gordon is dividing opinion amongst Newcastle United fans right now after a very sub-par season for the Magpies.
Nobody can deny that there has been a sharp drop-off in Anthony Gordon’s levels this season when compared to last. Whatever the reason, that’s just a fact.
However, many fans have taken umbrage with the England winger for his lack of effort and apparent poor body language at times this season, and that has caused a section of the fanbase to suggest it’s time we sell him on.
Gordon’s head was reportedly turned last summer as Newcastle contemplated selling him to recover a loss in the PSR reporting period, and that caught the attention of Liverpool, whose name in turn caught the attention of Anthony Gordon.

I’m willing to give Gordon the benefit of the doubt. He’s barely had a rest for three years, and he banked a lot of goodwill with his performances last season.
If Gordon’s post on X today is anything to go by, it looks like he’ll still be around next season to try and win the fans back on his side. Or at least he seems to think he will be.

Anthony Gordon is set to have a summer break for the first time in three seasons
Anthony Gordon has been selected to represent England next month, but once those games are out of the way, we hope he can get plenty of rest to reset ahead of what promises to be a very tough campaign next season.
We’re confident (well, most of us) that Gordon can regain his form, and hopefully that will help his body language improve.
Time will give us all the answers as to what is happening with the 24-year-old, at least in terms of whether he’s staying or going, and whether his body language is an attitude issue or simply that he’s run himself into the ground.
