Leeds made it clear that they were in talks with Firpo on the club’s retained list. But that was a few weeks ago and nothing has been confirmed as of yet, with Firpo set to enter the final month of his Leeds deal.
It is now ‘widely anticipated’ that Firpo leaves Leeds for pastures new, ending a four-year stint at Elland Road. Plenty of clubs are interested, with Betis at one stage deemed ‘close’ to landing Firpo’s signature.
Since then, Barcelona have been offered Firpo while Lazio, Atletico Madrid and Milan have all been linked with a move for the Dominican Republic ace. Now, Firpo has sent a message to Betis on his Instagram.

The fanbase is largely split when it comes to Firpo’s future. Many are desperate for him to stay after a stunning 2024-25 season in which he had a hand in 14 goals. But many remember his time in the top tier.
Firpo struggled in the Premier League, with the defender arguing that was due to injuries. But now back at the top, Firpo’s weaknesses and inability to defend one-on-one will be more under the spotlight.
Ahead of the Europa Conference League final between Firpo’s beloved Betis and Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea, Firpo sent a message to his old side. He tried to rally his old Betis teammates ahead of the final clash.
He said on his Instagram story ahead of the clash on Wednesday in Warsaw: “Today is your day, Betis. I’ll be cheering like everyone else. For all my former teammates, friends, and the people I love at this club.”

Firpo might not be the only full-back to leave. Sam Byram is also expected to leave, with Firpo in the same boat as Byram. Isaac Schmidt, meanwhile, has said he will be open to offers in the coming months.
Max Wober is also expected to depart Leeds despite promotion and The Whites will need full-backs this summer. Indeed, Leeds have already been linked with six left-backs and the window is not even open yet.
They include West Ham veteran Aaron Cresswell and Wales skipper Ben Davies, who are both out of contract. The latter is currently with Wales’ National Team alongside Leeds’ contingent of five players.
