Newcastle United should be on red alert following Manchester United’s latest move to sign Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo has had a standout campaign for the West London side, scoring 20 Premier League goals, a tally bettered only by golden boot winner Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Erling Haaland.
The Cameroon international has made three goal contributions in his last three games, while hw showed his class yet again when he scored during a 1-1 draw with Wolves on the final day of the top-flight campaign on Sunday, 25 May.
Mbeumo’s impressive efforts in the final third have ensured that Brentford secured a top-half Premier League finish and did not miss the services of Ivan Toney.

Newcastle must act now as Man United enter talks for Mbeumo
Mbeumo showed Eddie Howe’s men a glimpse of his class when he scored for the Bees in a 2-1 defeat at St James’ Park last month.
Meanwhile, Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that Newcastle can afford to pay Brentford’s asking price for the forward.

But the Magpies face serious competition from Man United for the 25-year-old’s signature, as talkSPORT have revealed [26 May] that the Red Devils have already held talks with Brentford over Mbeumo.
If Howe’s side want to sign the Bees man, they must act fast before the Red Devils agree a deal for the winger’s signature.

Champions League status could help Newcastle sign Mbeumo
While Man United have made their intentions to sign Mbeumo clear, Newcastle could still be able to sign him if they join the Red Devils in holding negotiations with Brentford.
Perhaps there is no doubt that the Cameroon international would enjoy plenty of game time next term if he joined Man United, as Ruben Amorim’s men have endured a woeful Premier League campaign, finishing just 15th.
Mbeumo could therefore have a big part to play in a rebuild at Old Trafford, while the North West giants close in on the signing of Matheus Cunha.
But the talented 25-year-old should be keen on playing in the Champions League next season, which is an opportunity Newcastle can offer him, whereas Amorim’s side have failed to qualify for Europe after being beaten by Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday, 21 May.
Howe must bolster his ranks ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign, while Mbeumo could be eager for a move to the North East.
