Many players are facing an uncertain future at Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The Lilywhites are set to undergo a squad reshuffle after the kind of domestic season Ange Postecoglou oversaw in his second year in North London. While Ange Postecoglou guided his team to Europa League glory, Spurs finishing 17th in the Premier League was a bitter pill to swallow for the fans.
If Ange is sacked, the abysmal Premier League showings would be the primary reason behind it. In addition, several experienced players could leave the club this summer, such as Cristian Romero, Richarlison and Yves Bissouma. Hugo Larsson was a part of the Eintracht Frankfurt side that lost to Tottenham in the Europa League quarter-finals. The Sweden midfielder has been a mainstay for Dino Toppmoller’s side, racking up 47 appearances in all competitions this past season, and he’s done enough to earn himself a £50 million price tag.
However, according to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are facing a difficult task to convince Eintracht Frankfurt into lowering their £50 million demands for Larsson. The German side are not in favour of reducing the quoted fee due to plenty other clubs vying for the versatile midfielder’s signature.
Well, it is quite clear the Sweden international is ambitious and wants to play at a bigger club than Frankfurt in the future. He has enjoyed two outstanding seasons in Frankfurt colours, but with him still having four more years left in his contract, the Bundesliga side remain in a strong negotiating position.
The aforementioned report adds Frankfurt are prepared to sell Larsson to Spurs if the key decision-makers are willing to meet their financial demands. This means a possible summer move to North London hasn’t entirely been wiped out, although it would come as a shock if Daniel Levy’s club choose to meet Larsson’s valuation.
With the futures of Bissouma and Bentancur up in the air as they enter the final year of their contracts, Levy is looking to add a new midfielder to the roster and improve squad depth too. And Larsson would have been ideal for Spurs, aligning with the club’s recruitment strategy of investing in youth and unlocking their potential.
That said, however, the transfer window is yet to begin and there is plenty of work to be done in rebuilding the squad. Having found success in acquiring talents such as Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, Spurs cannot miss out on Larsson as he could become the face of their midfield unit for the best part of the decade.
