Thursday Celtic Exit Confirmed | Latest Celtic News

Celtic have confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Scott Bain, bringing an end to a seven-and-a-half year spell at the club.

Bain leaves having played his part in one of the most successful periods in recent Celtic history. Since arriving from Dundee in January 2018, initially on loan before signing permanently that summer, he collected an impressive haul of silverware — seven league titles, four League Cups, and three Scottish Cups with most coming as backup goalkeeper.

Bain made 75 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops. His debut came in dramatic fashion during a 3-2 win at Ibrox in March 2018, when he was thrown in unexpectedly and rose to the occasion. From there, he became a decent option between the sticks across several seasons, working under several managers

Though not always the first name on the team sheet, Bain’s consistency, character, and contribution behind the scenes were clearly valued. His role in supporting the dressing room, as well as stepping in when called upon.

With Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo now occupying the top two goalkeeping slots, Bain’s exit allows for a fresh chapter both for him and the club. Celtic are expected to bring in Ross Doohan as third-choice keeper ahead of the new season.

Everyone at Celtic has thanked Bain for his service, and he leaves Paradise with the best wishes of the club and support.
