It’s been coming for a few weeks now, but it is looking likely that Firpo is finally leaving Leeds.
The left-back has enjoyed a solid season under Daniel Farke, but he looks destined for a new challenge away from Yorkshire.
It was ‘widely anticipated’ that Firpo exits Leeds, and it’s been a question unanswered to the Whites faithful.
Well now, Fabrizio Romano has certainly answered their queries as a club have made a proposal for the 28-year-old.
Leeds United defender Junior Firpo has ‘proposal’ from Lyon
It would be a real shame to see Firpo leave the club after four seasons of ups and downs.
After a torrid time in the Premier League, he’s made up for matters with his performances in the second tier.
Firpo was spotted at Real Betis’ stadium, and it seemed like the left-back was bound to return to Spain.

Another club who have been mooted are AC Milan who are keen on Firpo, and in a fresh exclusive, Fabrizio Romano has revealed their interest, but it’s actually another club that have made a ‘proposal’.
The Italian journalist has said that Lyon have begun negotiations with Firpo and are pushing to make a deal happen with his contract due to expire with Leeds.

Leeds have perfect Firpo replacement ready and waiting
With this looking like a goodbye for the 28-year-old who has been such a success this season, a replacement will be needed.
Farke will be weighing up his options, but in his tactical set-up, the full-backs are key to how Leeds play.
This shocked people as Ali Maxwell had never seen full-back success to this extent, but Leeds did it excellently last campaign with 24 goal contributions coming from both sides.
But Farke doesn’t have to worry too much, as Marcelo Bielsa has the perfect option waiting for Leeds.
In his Uruguay squad, Palmeiras left-back Joaquin Piquerez has been of interest to Leeds, and it’s clear to see why, looking at his numbers.

Games played | 16 |
Goals | 2 |
Pass accuracy % | 84% |
Chances created | 19 |
Duels won % | 58.8% |
Firpo joining Lyon is a major loss, but Bielsa’s work with Piquerez could make him the ideal successor.
