IT’S SOMETHING WE DON’T EXPECT FROM HIM…

Alan Shearer reacts to ‘thank you for everything’ post from Newcastle’s Guimaraes

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer reacted to a heartfelt message from exit-linked Bruno Guimaraes on social media.

During the Magpies’ best season this century, the Brazilian has been an integral part of England target Eddie Howe‘s side.

The 27-year-old’s continued good form since his move to the Premier League has attracted admiring eyes, particularly from Arsenal.

But Pete O’Rourke revealed exclusively to Football Insider in March that Newcastle were confident of keeping Guimaraes if they qualified for the Champions League.

In spite of a howler from the usually-dependable Jacob Murphy leading to a 1-0 loss to Everton, the Magpies scraped in thanks to Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest’s defeats on the final day of the season.

I don’t think even the best screenwriter could have written a story as beautiful as ours.

“Thank you for everything, and we’re counting on you for next season”.

The post was liked by former Magpies striker and manager, Shearer, who remains an avid and active fan of the club.
Newcastle in position to make unexpected Premier League title charge

Football Insider Verdict

Newcastle’s captain is entering his peak, and with the club returning to the Champions League next season, building around the Brazilian must be the priority this summer.

Man City are in a volatile state, Liverpool are preparing for an overhaul of their title-winning squad, and Arsenal are seemingly destined to forever be the bridesmaid.

This puts Newcastle in a position to capitalise next season. They have one of the Premier League’s best strikers and a combination of world-class midfielders.

Thanks to their cautious transfer business in January, the Magpies will finally be safe from the grips of the profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

With some smart signings in the right areas, Newcastle may find themselves in the right place at the right time to make an unexpected push for the Premier League tit
