Leeds United will sign a goalkeeper to replace Illan Meslier this summer, with the club weighing up a number of options.
At least eight goalkeepers have been linked with Leeds but Meslier’s future is almost certainly elsewhere, with the Frenchman into the final 12 months of his contract at Elland Road this month.
Phil Hay thinks Meslier is done at Leeds, making an exit inevitable. Now, with the search on for a new goalkeeper, another of those reportedly being weighed up is Daniel Peretz emerging on Leeds’ radar.
It has been reported that Peretz is in talks with Leeds, while England’s Thomas Tuchel has given his thoughts on the Israeli goalkeeper previously after coaching him at Bayern Munich.

Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg is reporting Peretz is in advanced talks with PSV Eindhoven. The deal will be a loan with an option to buy.
The 24-year-old is said to be keen on the move but there are still a few details requiring the finishing touches before a switch is finalised.

The transfer specialist claims that loaning or selling Peretz with a buy-back option was Bayern’s plan from the start, with him now replacing Walter Benitez as number one at the Philips Stadion.
Of course, Leeds’ interest may never have got to the stage of a move being seriously considered, and instead he will play in the Eredivisie. Leeds will have other goalkeeping targets beyond Kelleher and Peretz, though.

What sort of goalkeeper do Leeds United need exactly?
It’s imperative that Leeds acquire a better starting goalkeeper this summer, with survival dependent on their strength in both boxes more than anything else.
That is both in terms of the tactical framework of the team but also the personnel within that. Leeds have to sign a goalkeeper who raises the ceiling of the team.
In age and experience terms, Peretz is also the wrong profile. Leeds need a number one who has played plenty of career games and minutes.
Above all, they need a goalkeeper with the mental fortitude for a relegation battle. Teams at the bottom have goalkeepers that can bounce back quickly from a heavy defeat.
Leeds fans preferred Kelleher to Peretz but both have very little experience of that — if not none. Whereas someone like Pope has had to do that in countless seasons, let alone just some games.
