From being sacked as Australia’s U20 coach to winning the Europa League with Tottenham, the man born in Greece has had to prove a lot of people wrong in his career.
Even now, after winning Spurs’ first major trophy in 17 years, there is noise around Postecoglou’s future and how he could be sacked by the London club.
But in 2021, and with Steven Gerrard stopping Celtic from winning the ten, things were very low inside Parkhead and change was needed.
Rather than go for a flashy name that had an outstanding professional career, or knock on the door of Europe’s elite leagues.

The former Ipswich and Manchester United striker is a Celtic supporter, but when news emerged of Postecoglou heading towards Glasgow in 2021, he proceeded to disrespect the J-League manager.
Listening back on it now, it’s not a good look for Brazil, and it has now been dubbed one of the ‘craziest’ takes in talkSPORT history.

“He doesn’t hold the required UEFA Pro Licence. Oh, this has got to be a wind-up. No, dear oh dear. Oh, he would be a great manager. Where do they come up with these guys from?”

Postecoglou’s record at Celtic
The trophies and the Treble speak for themselves. Not only did Postecoglou stop Rangers from picking up some momentum from their title win.
The Greek-born Australian also did it in serious style, as many consider his football better on the eye than what Brendan Rodgers produces.
Either way, the Celtic Park faithful have been blessed to have such figures don the dugout and be so successful.
