Newcastle United are ready to do business in the summer transfer, although finding the right deal is already proving to be tricky. The Magpies have made their first summer signing with the arrival of young forward Antonio Cordero but are hoping to make significant first-team additions.
Having suffered the blow of Bryan Mbeumo, who now looks set for Man United., Paul Mitchell & Co still have plenty of targets on their shortlist to bounce back from missing out on the Brentford forward. A centre-back, winger, striker and potentially a goalkeeper are high on the shopping list this summer.

Second Rangers swoop on cards
Newcastle United could follow up their interest in Rangers young Oliver Goodchild with a second move for another Gers emerging talent.
Reports in Scotland today suggest the Magpies are keen on Alfie Hutchinson, with a bid for the 16-year-old winger in the pipeline. Hutchinson has featured for Rangers B this season, like Goodchild, but could be heading to Tyneside.,

I was never happy at Newcastle
Remember Albert Luque? He was the Spanish striker who cost Newcastle £9m back in 2005 but flopped spectacularly, His time on Tyneside was dominated by injuries, but although he memorably scored against Sunderland, he was never able to show his talents in the Premier League.
Now, looking back on his move to the Magpies, he told Spanish outlet AS:
“There was a rift between Lendoiro and me, which is why I decided to go to Newcastle. I will always be very grateful to Depor, the entire city, and all the Deportivo fans, but playing for Barça was a dream, and when that dream didn’t come true, Newcastle came and I went there, without even knowing where the city or the players of that team were.
“I suffered the most serious injury of my career. A difficult team; a great squad, with Alan Shearer and Michael Owen.
“But their football was very direct, very physical, very different from Spanish football. It was hard for me to adapt. I was never happy there, and I don’t really remember that time, in terms of sports, with any particular fondness.”

Tuchel’s Grealish message
England boss Thomas Tuchel says Jack Grealish must play regularly if he wants to win a place in next summer’s World Cup squad. The winger looks set to leave Man City in the transfer window, with Newcastle regularly linked with a move.
“My thoughts are still the same,” Tuchel said from Barcelona ahead of England’s game with Andorra. “I love Jack for his personality and of course his talent. He is a very unique player who can handle big pressure on the field. He is never shy of pressure. It’s the opposite.
“He grows in big matches but he’s a player who needs minutes and minutes and minutes and simply does not get them for a very long time. That’s basically everything. Nothing has changed.”

Elanga transfer response
Anthony Elanga has been asked about Newcastle’s transfer interest after starring for Sweden in their 2-0 win over Hungary last night. Speaking to Fotball Skanalen he said:
“There is a lot of talk. I focus on what I can do and my focus today was on the match. In football there are always rumors. The most important thing is that I focus on what I can control.”

Malick Thiaw interest
Newcastle may have to act quickly if they want to firm up their interest in AC Milan interest Malick Thiaw. The German international has been on their radar for some time, although Marc Guehi remains their No 1 target when it comes to central defenders.
However reports in Germany today suggest Bayer Leverkusen are keen on a deal to bring him back to the Bundesliga. The 23-year spent a year with Leverkusen’s academy as a youngster before making a breakthrough with Schalke.

Palace line up Guehi replacement
It seems Crystal Palace will go big if they lose Marc Guehi this summer, with an ambitious move for Sporting defender Ousmane Diomande. The Ivory Coast international is also on United’s radar, but Eddie Howe is hopung Newcastle can seal a deal for Guehi.
The Eagles will reportedly move for Diomande to strengthen their defence should Guehi leave.

New keeper deal
Newcastle have sealed a new contact for exciting goalkeeper prospect Max Thompson. The 20-year-old will sign a one-year extension with United said to be delighted with his progress.

New Mbeumo bid
Manchester United have made a second bid of around £60m for former Newcastle United target Bryan Mbeumo, according to reports this morning.
Ruben Amorim’s side had a £55m offer turned down by Brentford earlier this week, with the player keen on a switch to Old Trafford in a deal that is said to see his wages rise to £250,000 per week.
Brentford could yet hold out for a fee closer to £65m, with the Bees likely to play hardball over their star man.

Newcastle have reportedly returned to Nottingham Forest to enquire about the availability of winger Anthony Elanga. The Magpies made a late call before deadline day last summer but Forest’s asking price was too high.
With United on the lookout for a right-sided forward, Elanga’s name has again come up, with the Mail reporting that Newcastle have contact with Forest about a possible deal.
Whether the City Ground club would be open to a transfer – or their asking price – remains to be seen. Elanga is an international team-mate of Alexander Isak, and featured in every Premier League game for Forest last season, scoring six times and contributing 11 assists.

Kim Min-jae talks
Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae is a man in deman this summer, with Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool all interested in the South Korean.
He could be set to leave the Bundesliga this summer, with reports suggesting United have opened talks with the defender.

Reports this weekend suggest Crystal Palace are preparing a bid for Newcastle United youngster Lewis Miley. The 19-year-old is highly rated on Tyneside, and could have a big role to play next season, with squad rotation more important than ever.
Oliver Glasner is said to be keen on bringing Miley to Selhurst Park, although it would be a surprise if United considered a deal. There are no PSR pressures this summer, so they are unlikely to have to sell as they did last year with Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh.

Newcastle United are no stranger to Brighton striker Joao Pedro, with the Magpies once again expected to pursue the Brazilian after previously missing out on his signature.
Back in 2022, when Pedro was plying his trade with Watford, Eddie Howe and his recruitment team identified the young forward as someone who could help bolster their attacking ranks long into the future. Instead, a lavish new contract was signed at Vicarage Road, before Brighton and Hove Albion swooped in for a club-record £30m move in the summer of 2023.
The Seagulls admitted Pedro had been a long-term target, with his signing adding to the club’s ever-expanding arsenal of exciting, young talent. The player, however, openly admitted he was once upset at not making the move to St James’ Park before his south coast switch.
“I had this negotiation with Newcastle, until months ago I was upset about not leaving,” he told Brazilian outlet Globe Esporte. “However, I said ‘now is my moment at Watford, I have to make it happen, since it didn’t happen, this time it will happen.’
“I made it happen last season and I think it was the best way for Brighton, it’s a club that gives opportunities to young people, it believes in us. I made the right choice, I’m very happy here.”
At one stage, it is not an exaggeration to say, Pedro to Newcastle looked nailed on. World famous transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano even stuck his neck out to state a full agreement had been reached between the two clubs, with a six-year contract set to be signed by Pedro.
As such, Howe was quizzed over a deal being all but confirmed, to which he responded: “That’s not entirely accurate but I’m not sort of dealing with these things minute to minute, I’m sort of in the background hearing what’s happening but I don’t think that’s correct.”
Romano would later go on to tell Chronicle Live: “From what I know, the Joao Pedro deal between Newcastle and Watford was 100% agreed on that Monday. There was a verbal agreement and everything was fine.
“Joao Pedro was already planning for a medical, he received a communication for a medical in London in the following days. It would have been the first part of the medical, with the second part in Newcastle.”
Days after the speculation of Pedro reached fever pitch, the Magpies broke their club-record by signing Alexander Isak. The rest, as they say, is history.
Since then, both Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon have been added to United’s frontline, while spending in other areas of the attack have been limited due to PSR restraints. Now, with the financial shackles loosened somewhat, Pedro appears back on the agenda.
The player’s Brighton exit looks to be nearing, with Newcastle one of many Premier League clubs credited with interest. Will it be second time lucky for the black and white outfit?
