For a long time, Celtic have been linked with a move for Evan Ferguson of Brighton & Hove Albion. Initially, it had felt practically impossible. After all, the Irish international had a transfer valuation of £100 million just a few years back. Yes, his form had declined but that did not mean that he would leave the Premier League for the Scottish Premiership.
As time has passed, Ferguson’s form has continued to decline though. He spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United but did not score and was barely given chances.
Overall, he scored one goal in 23 appearances last season. That is quite the downfall for someone who had managed 10 times in 25 games in the 22/23 campaign, when he was 18 years of age.
Ferguson is still just 20 and has plenty of time to bring his career back on track. But he needs a change of scenery and head somewhere where he can rediscover his confidence. Is Celtic that place? Well, there seems to be a blockbuster, and somewhat unexpected, update on that situation.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Graeme Bailey said regarding the Ferguson to Celtic situation:
“What better place for him to get his form back, his confidence back than at Celtic?
“I’m told that it could happen and I think it makes sense for Brighton, makes sense for the player and makes sense for Celtic.”
Of course, any move to Celtic is going to be a loan deal. And on paper, it does make sense for all three parties.
Celtic need to bring in a striker and someone like Ferguson has the potential to be a consistent goalscorer for the Hoops. They just need to unlock his talent and give him some much-needed confidence.
Of course, if a move works out, it would be a positive for both Ferguson and Brighton & Hove Albion. Right now, things are not working out in the Premier League, and another failed loan spell in the English top flight would hurt his confidence further.
