Celtic have been fined by UEFA for the use of the illegal devices and just last season, the SPFL charged the Parkhead club for the same offence.
Hoops fans smuggled in the fireworks for the semi-final against Aberdeen and then for the preceding final in which Celtic beat Rangers on penalties to lift the first trophy of the season.
However, it was what Callum McGregor told the Celtic board about the illegal pyro that SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell has disclosed this weekend.

There is no doubt that pyro, when used safely, brings colour and atmosphere to football.
However, as it stands right now, fan use of the devices is illegal and banned from stadiums and it was what Celtic supporters did in the League Cup final that had the Hoops first-team talking.
SFA CEO Ian Maxwell told The Scottish Football Podcast, “Do you know what’s interesting? I remember Rangers played Celtic at Hampden and there was a lot of fireworks. There was a video online of a guy and he had a rocket.
“They’re finding genius ways of getting a lot of things into the stadium. I remember speaking to the Celtic board after it and one of them was saying that Callum McGregor had gone to them and said that was the first time that the players had actually talked about something coming onto the pitch, which is interesting.
“At that point you go, I think we need to use the players.”
Celtic charged by SPFL
Celtic have also been hit with an SPFL charge this weekend.
The ‘unacceptable conduct’ notice has confused fans as two other clubs were cited in the statement by the league’s governing body.
The statement read, “During the 2024/25 season the SPFL took disciplinary action against a number of clubs and notices of complaints have now been raised against three clubs in respects of incidents which occurred at the end of the season – Partick Thistle, Aberdeen and Celtic.”
Until the SPFL clarifies what this is for, Celtic fans will be kept in the dark over the mysterious charge.
