Udinese and Slovenia defender Bijol is set to become Leeds’ second summer signing after Leeds agreed an £18.75m fee with the Serie A club. Reports in Italy say Bijol could be confirmed by the end of the day.
It comes after Leeds completed their first signing of the season at the weekend, agreeing a pre-contract deal for Lukas Nmecha. The Germany international has penned a two-year deal which starts on July 1.
Leeds continue to scour the market for new signings with left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson linked with The Whites on Wednesday. Now, Beren Cross shares details of how Leeds have seen a £32m bid rejected.
Leeds United see £32m bid rejected for Rodrigo Muniz
Reports emerged last month that Leeds had interest in Fulham’s Brazilian powerhouse Rodrigo Muniz. The Cottagers rate Muniz in the region of £50m, which would easily eclipse Leeds’ club-record transfer.
Leeds, however, are unwilling to go that high. Indeed, The Whites are willing to pay as much as £35m for Muniz this summer. Now, The Athletic’s Cross says Leeds have already made a bid to sign forward Muniz.
Cross reports that Leeds offered Fulham an initial £26m to land Muniz, who has scored 17 Premier League goals in 57 top-flight appearances over the last two seasons. The deal includes a further £6m in add-ons.
Fulham have chosen to reject the offer, which arrived at Fulham’s doorstep earlier this summer. It is unclear, as things stand, if Leeds and Adam Underwood will return with a second offer for the Fulham ace.

Following the signing of Nmecha, reports said Leeds wanted a big-name striker and Muniz could be that man, who Alan Shearer said is capable of bullying defenders and upsetting Premier League opposition.
Shearer said about Muniz, as per The BBC: “He really was a handful. Tough to play against, horrible to play against in fact. That’s always a good thing for a centre-forward, that’s what you have to be.”
The issue Leeds have is that Joel Piroe remains first choice after scoring 19 goals last season. But the Dutchman has never played in the Premier League. Nmecha has only played a few minutes at the top.
Patrick Bamford has plenty of games in England’s top flight but cannot be trusted to remain fit and certainly, he is not the player he once was. Mateo Joseph is desperate to complete a move to Real Betis.
