West Ham could finally complete a move for Jhon Duran this summer.

The Hammers have been constantly linked with a move for the Colombia international, with a deal looking likely 12 months ago

This saw the 21-year-old hold up a Hammers gesture on a live stream, before ultimately staying at Villa Park before scoring the winner on the opening day in E20.

Duran went on to join Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr in January, but could now be set for a move to the London Stadium after a tough spell in the Middle East.

West Ham could finally sign Duran

The need for a number nine continues to build in East London, even with over six weeks until the Premier League season begins.

With the failings of Niclas Fullkrug last season, a new option could be brought in, and the Colombian could pose an ideal option.

This comes as reports emerged that the Saudi Arabian outfit wants rid of the striker, with his behaviour leaving club chiefs particularly annoyed as it stands, despite his goal output [Tutto Mercato Web, 17 June].

With a potential option on the table to secure a loan or permanent deal this summer, the Hammers could reignite their interest.

Former Brentford manager and Irons midfielder Martin Allen believes a chance could be taken on Duran by Graham Potter, despite his polarising personality traits.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “I saw that he’s not done great in Saudi Arabia, and they’re willing to let him go.

“He was discussed at length at West Ham when he was leaving Villa, and I got a drift that he wasn’t an ideal type of team player with a good attitude.

“Villa were doing extremely well at the time, and they were willing to let him move on.

“When you’re hearing little snippets of information that his attitude isn’t quite right and his professionalism is called into question, you wonder would West Ham would want him?

“He’ll always have that attitude, that’s mental and it doesn’t usually change.”

“Will West Ham take a chance on him? They might have to. There is certainly a possibility.”

Duran risk may be worthwhile to West Ham

Besides Michail Antonio, strikers at West Ham have typically struggled and as a result have come and gone very quickly.

The likes of Gianluca Scamacca and Sebastien Haller have failed in E20 despite succeeding elsewhere.

With that being said, taking a risk still has to be an option, with a deal for Duran potentially representing a wise move in East London this summer.

Given how superb he was last season with Aston Villa, there is proof that he can succeed in the Premier League and could do exactly that in the Irons’ claret and blue.
