Thomas Frank is very keen on bringing a player he knows well to Tottenham, but Arsenal could scupper the Dane’s hopes of a reunion with the midfielder.
According to reports, signing a defensive midfielder is one of Thomas Frank’s priorities ahead of his first season at Tottenham.
Unsurprisingly, various outlets have reported that Frank would like to bring Christian Norgaard to Tottenham, with the 51-year-old having managed the experienced midfielder at Brentford as well as Brondby.
In fact, Football Transfers even claimed last week that Spurs have had a long-standing interest in Norgaard and may now sense an opportunity to pounce on him this summer.
Arsenal could challenge Tottenham in the race for Christian Norgaard
The Standard have now become the latest outlet to credit Spurs with an interest in the Brentford captain.
The report says that Yves Bissouma is expected to leave Tottenham and Norgaard may be the man that the North London club turn to to replace the Mali international.
However, Frank’s hopes of reuniting with the 31-year-old may be dashed by Arsenal, who also have their eye on the experienced Bees star.
The Gunners are currently trying to tie Thomas Partey to a new contract, but if their efforts are unsuccessful, they could turn to Norgaard.
Mikel Arteta is reportedly also looking to add more leadership to the Arsenal squad after losing Jorginho, and the Denmark international is seen as the right fit.

It is not just their North London rivals that Tottenham have to be wary of in the race for the Brentford star.
It was claimed by CaughtOffside last week that Spurs could face competition from Bournemouth, Fulham, and Everton for Norgaard this summer.
However, some sources indicate that Tottenham and others are expected to be frustrated in their pursuit of Norgaard, with the Bees determined to hold onto their captain.
