Newcastle player performance who everyone overlook!

Newcastle United have options in midfield.

In fact, during what has been a club record-equalling run of victories, it has often looked like the strongest area Newcastle have at their disposal.

Indeed, while the defence is looking water-tight again and Alexander Isak continues to shine, the recent run of good form would surely not be possible without Eddie Howe’s tinkering in the middle of the park.

Moving Sandro Tonali to a deeper role has paid off. And then some. It’s actually incredible to think there were initial doubts as to whether or not the Italian, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton could successfully play together.

The trio have been crucial to the run of nine consecutive victories, even if its only natural that Isak would grab the headlines after such a ridiculous run of goals.

Still, what’s even more promising about the midfield balance is that there are options behind Tonali, Guimaraes and Joelinton.

Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff have both previously been key players under Howe but cannot get a look in now.

Lewis Miley, meanwhile, is starting to get back into the side after an injury problem derailed his start to the season.

Now, a big prediction has been made.

Miley was absolutely brilliant during what was a breakout campaign last season but has been afforded time to get back to his best this time around.

While still not yet a starter at his young age, BBC Sport pundit Pat Nevin has predicted very big things for the future.

“Lewis Miley looks like the next young English superstar to make a breakthrough,” he said.

“After a long lay-off with injury, he was man of the match, controlled the midfield and scored a cracker as well. He was also the most composed player on view.

“He has looked this good every time I have watched him and he is still only 18.

“Eddie Howe is trying to keep his profile fairly low key, but, trust me, Miley is special.”

Eddie Howe has big plans for Lewis Miley at Newcastle United

Howe seems to be aware of the potential Miley has to offer.

Going forward, the Newcastle United manager is believed to want to build a team around the teenager – such is the trust he has in his quality.

For now, however, it makes sense to afford him time to develop. There is absolutely no need to rush.

Tonali and Guimaraes have time on their side but won’t be around forever. To have a player like Miley backing them up can only be a huge positive.
