DUNDEE UTD are set to ‘vociferously argue’ their case after Celtic reported them to the SPFL about ticket pricing for next weekend’s potential Premiership title party at Tannadice, it’s been claimed.

The final weeks of the season have seen a number of spats between clubs on ticketing matters – with the likes of Hibs and Aberdeen cutting away allocations to prioritise home fans.

And now a fresh row has sprung up after Celtic “raised a number of concerns with the SPFL” over a Dundee Utd ticket promo which allows home fans to get £10 tickets if existing season ticket holders bring a friend.

With Celtic having the potential to claim the Premiership trophy, their fans are being charged £42 for a ticket.

The Hoops claim that discrepancy is a breach of league regulations which state clubs are “prohibited from charging higher admission prices to accommodation designated for supporters of the visiting club than for broadly comparable accommodation designated for use by supporters of the home club at the same match.”

But The Courier reports that United are confident in their stance, considering ordinary ticket prices ARE the same for fans of both clubs.

Moreover, they can point to various other promotions where season ticket holders can bring a friend for a reduced introductory price.

They themselves allowed season ticket holders to bring a friend for FREE during a match against Hibs in February.

The likes of Motherwell and St Johnstone have similar offers in their matches towards the end of the season.

They say these offers are separate from general pricing and, crucially, have never before triggered a breach of rule I31.

And they say there will be increased stewarding and policing costs on the day as the fixture could see the Hoops crowned champions.
