ANDREW CAVENAGH and the San Francisco 49ers have secured the required shares to complete their Rangers takeover.
SunSport understands the American consortium – having now acquired 51 per cent – remain on course to conclude the multi million pound deal by the end of May.

It means Sandy Easdale’s shares WON’T be required to get negotiations over the line.

The insider told SunSport: “Talks have been ongoing since October to get enough shareholders on board to ensure that the 51 per cent mark can be reached after a new funding issue.

Former chairman Dave King regards the deal as his Ibrox legacy with Gers the subject of a blockbuster American offer.
Led by businessman Cavenagh and sports executive Paraag Marathe, the move is seen as a chance for major Ibrox investment.
It was claimed Easdale could help facilitate the deal that was stalling behind the scenes.
But all parties have dismissed this, insisting a deal is closer than ever.
