It has also been claimed that should Klopp take the Roma job, Ranieri may stay on board in another capacity and take up an advisory role at the club, as a result of the legendary status he has earned across his different spells at his local club.
La Stampa claimed that the decision to hire Klopp was actually made some time ago, but that the former Borussia Dortmund manager only gave his blessing on Sunday. Should he be appointed, he will follow in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho and Luis Enrique, who both failed to secure Roma their elusive Scudetto.
