Leeds have a lot of work to do after being promoted, and they’ll have to have a big summer.

Indeed, many players in this squad have already proven they’re not Premier League quality, and Leeds need more additions.

Leeds have been linked to Tomas Soucek, while Leeds want to re-sign Manor Solomon too.

Of course, there are some players in the current Leeds squad who are ready to make the step up, and speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has highlighted one player who he thinks will shine next season.

Ian Wright backs Ao Tanaka to shine next season

Wright was asked to name who he thinks is the player to watch in the Premier League next season.

The pundit named Ao Tanaka as the player he’s most excited to watch next term, claiming that the £3m man won’t be at Leeds long if he keeps up his current performance levels.

“Right, talking about kids, perfect, who is the player to watch next season?” Wright was asked.

“He’s not even a kid, but I’m going to go with Ao Tanaka at Leeds. Their number six, if he plays how he’s played this season for Leeds in the Premier League, he won’t be there long. I’m not trying to get him sold, he’s fantastic, he’s one to look out for, Ao Tanaka,” Wright said.

Wright says that Tanaka may be the player to watch in the Premier League next season, and he could well be right.

Tanaka has been excellent for Leeds this year, and he could well make the step up to the Premier League.

Leeds have been here before, back in 2020 the Whites were promoted to the top-flight, and a number of their players at that time made the transition to Premier League football seamlessly.

Kalvin Phillips eventually got a big-money move to Manchester City after shining with Leeds upon promotion, Patrick Bamford became an England international, while Stuart Dallas was genuinely one of the Premier League’s best midfielders for a time.

Leeds have shown before that Championship stars can become brilliant in the Premier League, and Tanaka may well be about to follow that same path.
