Paul Merson responds after embarrassing himself with Everton tweet that’s going viral

Paul Merson has this to say after embarrassing himself with Everton tweet that's going viral.

Paul Merson is known for his predictions and opinions, but he had an absolute stinker prior to the Everton vs Wolves clash on Wednesday night.

Not many people would have fancied Everton to pull off a win on Thursday night against Wolves, but they put in arguably one of their best performances of the season. There were times when Jordan Pickford had to be called upon, but on the whole it was the ruthlessness from set-pieces that really made the difference.

Ashley Young, who was superb on the night, opened the scoring with a fantastic free-kick that bent around the wall and into the bottom corner.

Two own goals from Craig Dawson and an Orel Mangala strike sealed the points in a 4-0 win.

However, it wasn’t Wolves who were embarrassed after the game, it was Paul Merson, as he’d live to regret a tweet he put out before the game.

build-up to the Everton vs Wolves clash, stating that he feels Wolves will get the upper hand in a 2-1 win.

It didn’t quite pan out that way, as Everton were dominant on the night.

But it isn’t that prediction that’s causing a stir, as he took to X around an hour before the clash to make yet another prediction, only this time he was even more confident Wolves would win.

He actually predicted the complete opposite, stating Wolves are scoring for fun and Everton can’t defend to save their lives.

And it’s now been seen by over 200,000 people.

Merson handled the criticism brilliantly though, as he’s taken to X to post the Simpsons meme of Homer backing up into a bush to hide himself.

It’s nice to see Everton proving pundits wrong for once, especially when they’re that confident that you’ll be on the losing side.

They have the perfect opportunity to do so once again at the weekend, as Arne Slot’s Liverpool will make their way to Goodison
