Mykhailo Mudryk is facing a lengthy ban if found guilty of doping
The Telegraph have picked up on reports from Ukraine that Mykhailo Mudryk has tested positive for a banned substance in a sample provided in October.
So far, Sample A has tested positive for doping, but the results from Sample B are still pending and that could have a huge bearing on what happens next.
A report in Ukraine claims the substance found in his ‘A’ sample was Meldonium which is a performance-enhancing drug that was added to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list on January 1, 2016.
Mudryk’s representatives have yet to comment but Chelsea have confirmed the story in a statement.
Mykhailo Mudryk is denying any doping
Chelsea have released a statement that suggests that Mudryk is denying the allegation.
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm the Football Association recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk concerning an adverse finding in a routine urine test.
“Both the club and Mykhailo fully support The FA’s testing programme and all our players, including Mykhailo, are regularly tested. Mykhailo has confirmed categorically that he has never knowingly used any banned substances. Both Mykhailo and the club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what has caused the adverse finding.
“The club will not be commenting any further.”
