ALLY McCOIST demanded respect for his boyhood club Rangers this morning when he was live on air during his talkSPORT Breakfast Show.

The Rangers legend, 62, had a pop at one of his radio colleagues for previous comments made in regards to the Ibrox side.

McCoist was discussing the Old Firm derby with two of his studio pals Alan Brazil and Gabby Agbonlahor.

It’s a regular debate on the show with all-time record Gers goal-scorer McCoist and Celtic-daft Brazil sitting opposite.

But this morning it was just Brazil who was in the regular studio, while McCoist and Agbonlahor were live from Paris as they’re in the French capital for tonight’s big Champions Legaue showdown between PSG and Aston Villa.

And the pair were in cahoots against the Celtic supporter in the latest Scottish footie discussion, which all somehow stemmed from a chat about a particular English team.

Villa Park icon Agbonlahor, 38, was full of praise for his old rivals Birmingham City after they clinched promotion to the Championship following their 2-1 win over Peterborough last night.

He put the fierce rivalry to one side and congratulated the Blues on their achievement to the thousands listening live.

And McCoist couldn’t resist using his pal’s comments to aim a dig at presenter and fellow Scot Brazil.

Applauding Agbonlahor’s comments, McCoist turned to his laptop to look at Brazil on the screen and with his tongue firmly in cheek, he said: “There you are Alan, that’s a lesson for you right there!

“You should be a bit kinder to Rangers.

“If Gabby can be like that about Birmingham then you should be like that about Rangers. Get yourself squared up, c’mon.

“You’re never really complimentary at all!”

Brazil hit back: “What have I said about Rangers today? I just highlighted that Hibs result.”

McCoist then jumped back in to say: “And you brushed over the St Johnstone result over the weekend too.”

Brazil laughed: “Well we played our youth team, didn’t we?!”

Agbonlahor managed to find a quiet moment to return to the fold and mentioned the fact another Celtic-supporting pundit had a moment to forget over the weekend.

He laughed at the fact Hoops legend Chris Sutton trolled Barry Ferguson and Rangers after the 2-0 defeat to Hibs – only for Celtic to lose to relegation strugglers St Johnstone for following day.

He said: “Do you know what’s funny though, Ally and Alan? Chris Sutton, he couldn’t wait say something about ‘Bazball’ straight after the Rangers game and then Celtic lose the next day and he’s like ‘oh it was a great performance from St Johnstone!”

Agbonlahor and McCoist burst out laughing before disappointed Brazil added: “Bottom of the table as well.”
