Sean Dyche will be allowed to carry on by new Everton owner Dan Friedkin – but will not have a blank cheque book in the January transfer window.

Friedkin completed his takeover of Everton on Thursday and his company Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited have bought Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake in the club. The American billionaire, who also owns Roma, will stick by Dyche as he battles to keep Everton in the Premier League ahead of their move to their new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock.

The focus will be on maintaining the club’s position in the Premier League and the Blues are 16th, three points above the relegation zone. Friedkin knows Dyche is well equipped to achieve this, but cannot hand him a significant warchest next month because of PSR concerns.

The rules cover a club’s spending in the last three years and Everton are mindful because they were twice deducted a total of eight points last season for breaching PSR. This leaves Dyche and Thelwell very little room for manoeuvre as they look to strengthen the Blues squad.

Friedkin will become chairman of the board and he has appointed Marc Watts to serve as executive chairman. Representatives from The Friedkin Group will be at Goodison Park for Sunday’s clash with Everton and the club hope to confirm who in the coming days.

Everton’s debts, such as the £200million owed to former prospective owners 777 Partners, have been converted to long-term loans and instead of maxing their credit cards, the club now has a sustainable mortgage.

Providing immediate financial stability to the club has been a key priority, and we are delighted to have achieved this. While restoring Everton to its rightful place in the Premier League table will take time, today is the first step in that journey.”

Friedkin has written an open letter to Everton fans, claiming he wants to excite them. “Across all our endeavours, we strive to deliver extraordinary experiences that ignite people’s passions,” he wrote. “We are thrilled to bring this ethos to Everton and the Liverpool city region.”
