Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford took to social media to send a message to the fans after their impressive 1-1 draw with Man City on Boxing Day (December 26).
The 30-year-old played the full 90 minutes against the current champions, saving Erling Haaland’s second-half penalty to help secure a third consecutive draw against ‘top six’ opposition for Everton.
Bernardo Silva broke the deadlock in the 14th minute with a deflected shot that left Pickford helpless, but Iliman Ndaiye equalised with a stunning finish just after the half-hour mark.
City were awarded a penalty after Savinho got the better of Vitalii Mykolenko, giving Pep Guardiola’s side the perfect opportunity to win just their second game in 13.
Pickford had other ideas, diving low to his left to deny Haaland’s penalty and compound Man City’s misery.
The draw with City leaves Everton three points above the relegation zone going with three wins, eight draws, six defeats, and 17 points from their 17 games.
