Wayne Rooney has launched a scathing attack on Alan, slamming his criticism of Arne Slot’s tactics as “utterly ridiculous”. The former Manchester United and England star has come to the defense of Slot, who has been under fire for his team’s controversial approach against Liverpool.
Rooney, who is currently managing MLS side DC United, took to social media to express his astonishment at Alan’s brutal verdict on Slot’s tactics. “Can’t believe what I’m reading! Alan’s criticism of Arne Slot is utterly ridiculous,” Rooney tweeted.
The former England captain went on to explain that Slot’s tactics were not only justified but also clever. “Arne Slot’s approach against Liverpool was spot on. He recognized that his team couldn’t match Liverpool’s possession-based game, so he adapted and used a more direct approach,” Rooney explained.
Rooney also took aim at Alan’s suggestion that Slot’s tactics were “anti-football”. “That’s a lazy criticism from Alan. Just because a team doesn’t play the same way as Liverpool or Manchester City doesn’t mean they’re playing anti-football,” Rooney argued.
Despite the controversy surrounding Everton’s tactics, Rooney believes that Arne Slot has done an excellent job in guiding the team to where they are today. “Arne Slot has been fantastic for Everton. He’s got the team playing with a clear identity and has made some shrewd tactical decisions,” Rooney praised.
As Everton prepare to face Wolves next, Rooney is confident that Slot will continue to defy his critics and guide the team to victory. “I’ve got no doubt that Arne Slot will still be on the touchline against Wolves, and I’m backing him to get the win,” Rooney concluded.
