Joelinton and Kieran Trippier have reacted to an announcement from Newcastle concerning Jacob Murphy.
During the January transfer window, the Magpies identified right wing as a key area of weakness that needed addressing.
Anthony Gordon had established himself as one of the league’s best on the left side of Eddie Howe’s front-three, but Newcastle were interested in signing Bryan Mbeumo due to the lack of a standout performer opposite the ex-Everton man.
However, whilst the Magpies may still move for the Cameroonian in the summer, finding a right winger is no longer such a pressing concern thanks to Murphy’s outstanding performances for Newcastle.
The 30-year-old has registered eight goals and 11 assists in the league for the Carabao Cup champions this season.

Jacob Murphy nominated for Premier League Player of the Month
Having scored three and assisted three more for his side during April, Murphy has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award, alongside Rayan Ait-Nouri, Jorgen Strand Larsen, Morgan Rogers, teammate Harvey Barnes, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Sessegnon.

Following the announcement, Newcastle shared a photo of the 30-year-old alongside his ex-Leicester teammate on Instagram, captioned: “An exceptional month for these two!
“Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes have been shortlisted for the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month award for April!”
The post was then liked by teammates Trippier and Joelinton, showing their support for the in-form wingers.

Football Insider Verdict
The two English wingers are surrounded by talented players who have raised their game during April’s round of fixtures.
However, Murphy and Barnes stand out from their peers and are most likely the front-runners for the award based on performances alone.
The former’s stats are mentioned above, but the ex-Leicester man may squeak ahead of his teammate by virtue of scoring four goals and assisting twice.

Barnes featured infrequently at the beginning of the season, but following injuries and suspensions for Gordon, the 27-year-old has been an incredible deputy for the England international.
As a consequence, the ex-Everton man has not started a league game for Newcastle since the 2-0 loss to Liverpool on 26 February.
Whilst the fan voting aspect of the award may see more popular names like Mac Allister or Rogers win the award, when it comes to performances, both of Newcastle’s men are surely the most
deserving recipients.
