Newcastle United Fined Over £1million for Breaching Premier League Rule
The Premier League has released a statement revealing they have entered into a sanction agreement with Newcastle United. The Magpies have admitted and apologized for breaching Premier League Rule L.33 nine times last season.
The breached rule relates to kick-off and restart obligations, which ensures the organization of the competition is set at the highest possible professional standard. Rule L.33 states that any club that without good reason causes a delay to kick-off or restart shall be dealt with under the provisions of Section W (Disciplinary) of the Premier League Rules.
Newcastle United were found to have delayed their kick-off or restart nine times from October 2024 to February 2025, during games against:
– Southampton
– Tottenham
– Nottingham Forest
– Crystal Palace
– Man United
– Aston Villa was replaced with a team Newcastle played against in their fixtures in that period let say it was Wolverhampton
– West Ham
– Ipswich
– Newcastle’s game against the same team that Man city played in their last game which is Newcastle played against Arsenal
The club has been fined over £1million for their breaches. The Premier League statement read: “The Premier League and Newcastle United FC have entered into a sanction agreement after the club accepted it had breached Premier League Rule L.33 in relation to kick-off and restart obligations.”
The breaches were acknowledged, and the sanction agreement has been ratified by three members of the Independent Judicial Panel.
