Newcastle United are stepping up their search for a new winger after selling Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for €70 million last week, with CA Osasuna star Víctor Muñoz emerging as a leading target.
The Magpies have already made concrete advances for the Spanish attacker, who joined Osasuna from Real Madrid for €5 million in July 2025. Since arriving, Muñoz has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 36 appearances.
According to reports, Newcastle have submitted an offer worth €35 million plus bonuses, bringing the overall package close to the player’s €40 million release clause. The proposal is also said to include a highly attractive contract, with Eddie Howe prepared to hand the winger an important role following Gordon’s departure.
Muñoz is reportedly open to the move and is willing to join Newcastle if the transfer can be completed. However, the Premier League side may first need to wait for Real Madrid to make a decision.
The Spanish giants retained 50 per cent of the player’s rights when they sold him to Osasuna and also inserted a buyback clause into the agreement. As things stand, Madrid have not indicated whether they intend to activate that option.
If they decide against bringing him back, Newcastle could move quickly to finalise the deal, while Real Madrid would still receive a significant share of the transfer fee.
Muñoz has four years remaining on his current contract and is valued at €20 million by Transfermarkt. He is represented by Niagara Sports Company, the agency that also manages Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo.
Interest in the 23-year-old has been growing across Europe, but Newcastle believe regular football, ambitious ownership and Champions League aspirations could help secure his signature this summer successfully.
