Tottenham Hotspur will battle Aston Villa in the race to sign AS Roma winger Matias Soule this summer, with several European clubs also monitoring the Argentine international closely ahead of the new transfer window.
According to reports in Italy from Calciomercato, Tottenham are eager to strengthen their attacking options and have identified Soule as a priority target. Aston Villa are also pushing to land the highly-rated 23-year-old, while Borussia Dortmund and Bournemouth remain interested in the player’s situation.
Roma are expected to demand between €35m and €40m before considering any sale for the winger, whose stock has risen significantly following an impressive campaign in Serie A.
Soule joined Roma from Juventus in July 2024 after struggling to establish himself as a regular starter in Turin. However, the move to the Italian capital has transformed his career, with the winger emerging as one of Serie A’s standout young attackers during the 2025/26 season.
The Argentine contributed seven goals and eight assists in 42 appearances across all competitions, helping Roma secure a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.
Aston Villa’s interest makes perfect sense given Unai Emery’s need for additional attacking depth. Jadon Sancho’s loan spell has ended, while Leon Bailey’s future at Villa Park remains uncertain. Villa were heavily reliant on Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins for attacking output last season, and Soule’s creativity and versatility could provide another dimension in the final third.
Tottenham are also searching for greater quality in wide areas following Son Heung-min’s departure to MLS last summer. With Wilson Odobert and Mohammed Kudus currently viewed as the club’s primary wide options under Roberto De Zerbi, Soule has emerged as an attractive solution.
Despite strong competition, recent reports suggest Soule is interested in joining Aston Villa, with Champions League football potentially giving Emery’s side a significant advantage in negotiations this summer.
