Tottenham have been linked with a move for Leeds United star.
Tottenham Hotspur have already announced a trio of signings who bring strong Premier League experience and leadership with them in Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke. They have fortified the Spurs backline, which was the worst in the division after the three relegated clubs.
On top of those three new signings, Pedro Porro has penned an extension with the club. Given the business the North Londoners have done so far, head coach Roberto De Zerbi must be extremely happy. He will be content with how the backline is shaping up ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, but Tottenham continues to be linked with another central defender.
Leeds United’s Pascal Struijk has been on Spurs’ radar for quite some time now. Signed for free back in 2018, the 26-year-old has been a fantastic servant for Leeds United, racking up close to 200 appearances. He was a regular fixture for the Whites this past season, helping the club stay in the top flight.
However, with Pascal Struijk set to enter his final year at Elland Road, speculation will linger until he signs or goes.
Leeds United plan to sell Pascal Struijk if no contract breakthrough happens soon
According to Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, Leeds United will look to sell Pascal Struijk if he does not commit to a new deal soon.
“Leeds have got a decision to make on Pascal Struijk’s long-term future. He’s going into the final year of his contract, if no new deal can be agreed, this will be their final big opportunity to maybe cash in on Struijk and make some money on him,” Pete O’Rourke said.
“A lot will depend, I think, on what Leeds do defensively, and if they do bring in reinforcements, which we do expect them to do as they’re being linked with a number of players.
“But I don’t think they’ll be rushing Struijk out the door right now, because he is the only left-sided centre half at Elland Road.”
It is understood that the Dutchman will still command a decent fee despite having a year left on his deal. Whether he pens fresh terms remains to be seen, but the defender is in high demand already. Apart from Tottenham, Aston Villa are keen on signing Struijk from Leeds. Unai Emery wants to bolster his defence ahead of Aston Villa’s return to the Champions League, and the 26-year-old’s versatility is understood to be appealing.
- As for Spurs, De Zerbi’s defensive rebuild appears to be complete. A couple of central defenders are expected to be sold, and despite that, the Lilywhites will have enough strength in depth to compete in all domestic competitions next season. That said, Spurs will not be bothered much when it comes to Struijk’s future at Leeds.
