Everton agree multi-million Ernest Nuamah transfer as player talks start

Everton have reached an agreement with Lyon for Ernest Nuamah, according to Fabrice Hawkins.

The RMC Sport journalist claimed on 16 January that the Blues had agreed a £16.8 million fee with the French club for the Ghanaian winger.

The report states that the Toffees are in negotiations with the player and the parties are confident that personal terms can be agreed.

The 21-year-old has featured 12 times in Ligue 1 so far this season and is yet to provide a goal or an assist.

Everton need reinforcements in winter window

David Moyes is desperate for multiple additions in the winter transfer window as he attempts to drag the Blues away from the relegation zone.

His side lacks goals, with Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin notching just three so far in the Premier League this season, the last of which came in the 1-1 draw with Fulham in October.

Nuamah contributed with four goals and three assists in 51 appearances for the French side last season but has been underwhelming so far this season in his limited opportunities.

However, he did manage 20 goals and five assists in 49 matches for Nordsjaelland before that move so the potential is there if he can regain that form.

His pace and trickery would give the Toffees a different dimension in attack with Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom struggling to make an impact.

The Ghana international represents the type of gamble that the Goodison Park club needs to take, players with high upside that have brilliant potential.

They should not only be looking for an immediate impact but to future-proof the squad as well to ensure that they are in a strong position in the years to come.
