Everton are “awaiting” approval from David Moyes to sign Ernest Nuamah in the winter transfer window, according to CaughtOffside.
The news outlet reports (17 January) that the Toffees have reached a broad agreement with Olympique Lyon to complete a permanent deal for the 21-year-old winger.
Moyes’ go-ahead is needed, as the Blues are not expected to have any issues with the Ghanaian forward regarding personal terms.
Ernest Nuamah transfer needed at Everton
Nuamah is a highly regarded prospect in France who has been a key squad member at Lyon over the last two seasons.
Les Gones signed in 2023 after his impressive stint in Denmark, and he now looks set to make his way to the Premier League.
The Ghana international has played most of his football on the right wing this season, making 18 appearances in all competitions.
Iliman Ndiaye, who arrived at Goodison from France last summer, has been one of the Toffees’ best players in the current campaign.
Everton will undoubtedly be encouraged by the success of the 24-year-old’s transfer, but it remains to be seen whether Moyes will give his seal of approval.
The Scottish manager has Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom on the right-hand side of the attack, making the addition of Nuamah a bit unnecessary.
What the Blues seemingly need right now is another number nine, with Armando Broja once again sidelined for a considerable period.
Some fans may feel a deal for the Ghanaian winger is not needed at this stage, but it will be up to the Merseyside outfit to decide what’s best as they battle relegation.
