Newcastle United’s summer signing Lloyd Kelly is attracting plenty of interest this month after the Magpies have already rejected two approaches for the former Bournemouth man.

Lloyd Kelly arrived at Newcastle in the summer after leaving Bournemouth amid lots of talk of vast potential. Eddie Howe is a big fan of Kelly after signing him for Bournemouth initially.

However, despite being a teacher’s pet and having all this potential, we’re yet to see much of Lloyd Kelly, and what we have seen has been less than convincing.

While Newcastle didn’t pay a fee for Kelly in the summer, that enabled the 26-year-old to negotiate an outstanding wage packet with the serial benchwarmer fetching in a reported £150,000-a-week according to Capology.

Juventus and Fenerbahce have had bids for Lloyd Kelly rejected

Therefore, when it was reported that Turkish side Fenerbahce wanted to acquire Kelly for £6m-£10m depending on the source, it seemed like an easy ‘yes’ for most fans. A pure profit move and a massive wage off the books.

Newcastle rejected that move but that opened the door for Juventus to try, initially enquiring about a loan with an obligation to buy and then returning with a £12.5 million bid.

However, that bid was deemed to be way below Newcastle’s valuation of Kelly.
Newcastle want £25m for Lloyd Kelly

A report has now come out of La Gazetta dello Sport in Italy that Newcastle have slapped a £25 million valuation on Kelly with intermediaries from Juventus and Newcastle working on a deal starting at that valuation.

Newcastle are about to let Alex Murphy join Bolton Wanderers on loan which would leave them short should they sell Kelly, so we can see the logic.

However, where they’ve got £25 million from, we do not know. Obviously, there’ll be room for negotiation in that, but we’d have taken £6 million.
