Sunderland ready to accept £15m for Dan Neil as Everton transfer hunt emerges

Everton have shortlisted Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil after sending scouts to watch him, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper reported on 22 January that David Moyes is an admirer of the 23-year-old from his time as manager at the Stadium of Light and has tracked his career since.

The Toffees have had scouts watching the former England Under-20 international in his last two matches who has just 18 months remaining on his contract in the North East.

The Black Cats are said to want at least £15million for the midfielder but a deal during the winter transfer window may prove to be difficult for all parties to complete.

There is no doubt that the new manager at Goodison will want to make some new additions to his squad before the end of the window.

With less than two weeks remaining of the winter market, Moyes will be keen to bring in some reinforcements to help achieve Premier League survival.

With that being said, Neil could prove to be an excellent addition in L4 after four excellent seasons for his boyhood club.

Since becoming a first-team regular in 2021, the Englishman has made over 40 appearances per season and has already featured 28 times this campaign.

Regis Le Bris’ side currently sits third in the Championship and it would represent a blow for them to lose such a key cog in their midfield.

As a result, the Toffees would have to work hard to make a bid that the Black Cats can’t refuse in January if they are serious about adding Neil to their squad for the rest of the season.
