David Moyes could benefit from Christian Norgaard’s arrival at Everton.
Moyes has made a bright start to his Everton return and seems to be leading the Toffees in the right direction ahead of their move to Bramley-Moore Dock next season.
However, with Premier League safety all but assured, Moyes will no doubt be thinking ahead to the summer and ways to improve his squad.
There could be some changes in the middle of the park, with Abdoulaye Doucouré and Idrissa Gueye both out of contract at the end of the season.
The Toffees are keen to offer Gueye fresh terms at Goodison [Graeme Bailey]. However, there is no guarantee a deal will be struck, and with Doucouré’s future up in the air, a new midfielder could be needed.
Norgaard could be that midfielder. However, it’s thought that a deal won’t come cheap, despite the Brentford midfielder’s contract expiring in the summer.
Everton want to sign Norgaard on a free transfer
As reported by TBR Football (1 March), Everton will push to sign Norgaard and are ready to make an offer for the soon to be out of contract Denmark international.
Brentford also plan to open talks with the 30-year-old over a new deal.
However, if an agreement can’t be reached, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has speculated that Norgaard will want favourable financial terms to join Everton.
“Norgaard will demand big wages to sign for the club,” Wenham said.
“We’re talking about a £15million player here. This is the sort of player that Everton would be interested in because they’ve had a little bit of a list of Scandanavian players. Therefore, he could fit the bill.

“I know that Moyes likes Scandinavian players, and Norgaard has done extremely well at Brentford. He has been a key player for them in midfield. This would be an astute signing for Everton.”
Norgaard would be smart signing for Everton
Even if the player wants big wages, that shouldn’t matter too much as there will be no transfer fee involved for Everton to sign Norgaard.
Therefore, this deal could make sense, as it would allow Moyes to add an experienced Premier League and international midfielder to his squad for a relatively cheap overall financial package.
However, with Norgaard set to be out of contract, there will no doubt be other clubs chasing his signature. Therefore, it remains to be seen if Everton can win this race.
