Carlos Alcaraz drops ‘crazy’ Everton verdict in new transfer admission

Everton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz has evidently already struck up an affinity with the supporter as he ponders life beyond the end of his loan spell.

David Moyes’ side signed the former Southampton man on loan from Flamengo last month and retain the option to buy him at the end of the season.

Alcaraz has already had a positive impact at Everton and has made four Premier League appearances and two top-flight starts for the Toffees.

Moyes and co. were treated to seeing the best of Alcaraz’s ability when he notched a goal and an assist during a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on 15 February.

Alcaraz opens up on possibility of future with Everton

The former Southampton man made 18 Premier League appearances during the 2022/23 season for the Saints and suffered relegation to the Championship with the Hampshire club.

However, he helped Southampton win promotion back to the top flight by scoring three goals in 23 second-tier outings before he joined Italian Serie A giants Juventus on loan in January 2024.

Alcaraz made one Premier League appearance for the Saints this term, before leaving the club permanently to join Flamengo back in August.

But his return to English football would soon come, as he joined Everton on loan from the Brazilian Serie A side last month.

He has now revealed his stance on a potential permanent transfer to the Toffees and hailed the “crazy” fanbase in an interview with Everton’s official site: “I try not to think too much about the loan, the objectives and so on.

“I try to keep a cool head, to be patient, but I know that if I do things right, things will take care of themselves.

“It would be great to stay here because the club, the institution, the fans, they’re great.

“It’s very crazy but that’s why I’m very calm and will keep doing the work I’ve been doing and show what type of player I am.”

Alcaraz could play his part in an exciting Everton future

The Merseyside outfit have struggled to hit the heights their fans rightfully demand in recent seasons, but they managed to avoid relegation to the Championship last season despite facing point deductions.

Everton fans had grown fed up with the fact that their side were in a relegation battle for the fourth consecutive season, but things have been looking up for them since Moyes returned to the club in January, after former boss Sean Dyche was sacked.

Following Moyes’ appointment, the Toffees have picked up four victories in the Premier League and have established a comfortable 15-point cushion between themselves and the relegation zone.

Therefore, Everton can now look forward to moving into their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock as a top-flight outfit and will swiftly want to begin a more positive chapter in the club’s history.

Alcaraz appears keen to join Moyes’ side permanently and could therefore have a major part to play as the Merseyside outfit strive to achieve past glories.
