David Moyes sends message to squad as Everton images released from final session

Everton have released a batch of photographs from their final training session at their United Arab Emirates warm weather camp. The Blues flew out to the Persian Gulf straight after their 1-1 draw at Brentford last Wednesday – a result that extended their unbeaten Premier League run to seven matches under David Moyes – and have been put through their paces by the Scot, using CBF’s world-class facilities in Abu Dhabi against the backdrop of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Moyes, who steered Everton to nine top eight finishes in his first spell in charge, including a best-ever Premier League position of fourth in 2004/05, returned to Goodison Park with the team just one point above the drop zone in January, having picked up just 17 points in the first half of the season under Sean Dyche (less than 50% of their final total in 2022/23 when they posted the lowest equivalent haul in their history and avoided a first relegation in 72 years by a single goal on the final day).

However, following their upturn in form under the 61-year-old, the Blues currently enjoy a 15-point cushion between themselves and the bottom three.

Everton now return to action against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux at 8pm on Saturday. The Blues enjoyed their biggest win of the season against the West Midlands side on December 4 when they defeated them 4-0 at Goodison Park but both clubs have had changes in the dugout since then with Wolves, now led by Vitor Pereira – a former Everton managerial candidate – one place below Moyes’ men in the table but with a 10-point gap between the sides and one of the pictures from this session showed the whole squad listening intently as their Glaswegian gaffer delivered a group message.
