Everton will be looking to the future at last following the club’s takeover late last year (2024) and the imminent move to the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (4 March) that Everton will “do everything” to keep star centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite at the club with a new deal.
David Moyes’ side are plotting contract talks with Branthwaite as they attempt to tie him down to an improved, long-term deal.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid are among the sides keen on Branthwaite – whose current deal is up in June 2027.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has given his verdict on the Madrid interest.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness has insisted the club are now in a position to offer Branthwaite a deal to make him the club’s highest-paid player.

The defender signed has last Everton extension in October 2023 after interest and offers from Man United.

Wyness insisted Branthwaite is “the real deal” after his development at Everton.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It’s fantastic.
“I’d always hoped we could hold onto him when the club was in real trouble – before the takeover happened.
“Now obviously with the new owners, there’s a great chance we can negotiate a contract of the scale he’ll want.
“I’ve said before he will have to become one of, if not the highest-paid player at Everton.
“He is that talented, he is that high-quality. There are rumours of Real Madrid coming in, and I wouldn’t be surprised.
“Branthwaite also has a good head on his shoulders – he’s the real deal.
“For Everton, it would be one of the building blocks and Moyes would love to have him in the squad as they move into the new stadium.”
Everton line up Marseille winger deal
Football Insider revealed last week (2 March) that Everton are keen on Marseille winger Luis Henrique and will enter a “major battle” for his signature.
It is believed the Toffees will face competition from Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
