Abdoulaye Doucoure sends message to Kevin Thelwell after Everton announcement

Kevin Thelwell has delivered a heartfelt message to Everton fans with his impending exit now confirmed.

After the takeover of the Toffees by the Friedkin Group, there is set to be plenty of change in the summer transfer window as the Blues look towards a new era.

With Angus Kinnear coming in ahead of the move to Bramley Moore Dock, Thelwell will move on once the current Premier League season ends.

As TFG look to put their stamp on things and bring positive change to Merseyside, there is a focus on backroom changes as well as squad replacements.

David Moyes returning to Goodison in place of Sean Dyche was the first move from the new owners who were hoping to steady the ship.

It was a decision that has certainly paid off and the Toffees now sit 16 points clear of the relegation places, with their form having seriously improved.

Thelwell is also set to be replaced though with the Director of Football being moved on after this season.

Meanwhile, Kinnear is set to join the Toffees from Leeds United at the end of the current campaign too.

Thelwell took to X to send a heartfelt message to Everton and the supporters with Abdoulaye Doucoure quick to send his kind words back.

The 32-year-old said: “Thanks a lot, Kev, for your dedication and support.

“You’ve been a big part of this club staying up during his most difficult time. I enjoyed working with you and wish all the best in the future.”

Everton set for summer changes

Thelwell has coped well at Everton, facing some difficult circumstances at times, but it’s understandable why TFG are looking to make big changes with a total refresh needed.

With PSR restrictions no longer playing on Everton’s minds, the Toffees can afford to go out and bring new talent in rather than having to be conservative in their business.

With that in mind though, Doucoure may be ready to see his time in Merseyside come to an end with new owners showing a little less loyalty than those who had the decision to make before.

Regardless of the manager he has played under, Doucoure has managed to perform at a consistent level, but at 32-years-old and out of contract, the Toffees are in a position where they have to look at upgrading these kinds of players.

Doucoure’s message to Thelwell shows how much he has done for the club during his tenure in Merseyside, but both parties are set to be looking at futures elsewhere as a new era is set to get underway.
